They always seemed like a great, cohesive group. I also suspect this is just members needing to step away, rather than any bad blood between members. Sad as I am, at least they're going out on high notes with these last few albums & didn't sputter out after Relentless or anything, which, in my opinion, is their weakest. And they just released a cool video for the title track two days ago! Lots of Dethklok vibes in that. I felt Chaos was a little lacking to be honest, but Hexed stepped it right back up. And were going to record it in our warehouse.'. (Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila) after 20 Years Down & Dirty tour ends, said the following: 'Yes, I think we are. Formed in 1993 as Inearthed, the final line-up of the group upon their split in 2019 consisted of Alexi Laiho. So much better than I'd expected it to be at the time. Children of Bodom was a Finnish melodic death metal band from Espoo. Carach Angren, Lost Society and Uncured will open on the trek. I'm been listening to a couple albums all evening, & goddamn - Hexed has so many killer moments, & Halo of Blood is ridiculously goddamn awesome. Children Of Bodom will bring their 20th anniversary ‘20 Years Down And Dirty Tour‘ to North America this fall. Seriously! They closed out with Kissing the Shadows for an encore!! They were my first crowd-surf, first time I followed a band on tour for two consecutive shows, first autographed setlist, you get the gist. The other was seeing their '20 Years Down & Dirty' tour with Lost Society, where they played Something Wild in its entirety, interspersed with tracks from their subsequent three albums. Seen them at least five times now two of my very favorite live experiences were shows of theirs.
Their Tokyo live album is my favorite album of all time. Bodom have been, without a doubt, my favorite band for probably 15 years, ever since I came across Needled 24/7 on a Headbanger's Ball compilation CD. they're not the first or the last band to more or less disintegrate or retire, but they're one of the ones that most impacted me. i always see signs that i'm getting older, but this is definitely a big one for me. I realize that i'm probably coming off as overdramatic, but this band was a constant for me and even when i wasn't as into them as i once was, it was nice to know that children of bodom were still around continuing to release albums. i kind of feel like listening to children of bodom's discography/old videos on youtube, seeing as how it's more or less an end of an era for this band and for myself. i also felt sad when roope left the band, but this is way worse than when that happened. I don't know what brought this sudden and drastic change, i hope it's not something too bad or serious. I have no idea what will end up happening to children of bodom or to all three of you guys, but i hope you're all happy with whatever it is that you choose to do and you should know that you not only brought an immense amount of joy to myself, but to millions of fans around the world. It really saddens me to read that one of my favorite bands is more or less falling apart, but i'm glad that the memories and the albums will still remain the same. Unfortunately, i wasn't able to see more of children of bodom because life got in the way and sometimes i wasn't able to due to prior engagements, work, lack of money, or just shit happening. hell, a children of bodom concert back in 2008 was the first metal show i ever attended. children of bodom were a very important band to me during my teen years and i'm glad i was able to see you guys with most of the classic lineup three times, all in nyc. i posted something on jaska's fan page, but i figured i'd post it here as well:įuck, what horrible news to read. I just found out about this and it really bums me out.
